North Pine / Pineview
The North Pine - Pineview area is situated approximately 20 km (12 miles) north of Fort St. John along Rose Prairie Road and North Pine Road. The area consists of quarter-section parcels divided only by Indian Creek with Beatton River to the east. The predominate land uses are farming and ranching with oil and gas activity dotting the landscape. A portion of the area, sometimes referred to as the “Old Indian Reserve”, was formerly reserved for the Beaver (Dunne-za) tribes but was settled by war veterans beginning in 1948.
North Pine - Pineview have an active Women’s Institute, Farmer’s Institute, and 4-H club. Local volunteers comprise the North Peace Fall Fair Society who coordinate the annual agricultural event attended by both rural and urban residents. Two religious facilities are located in the area; the North Pine United Church and Upper Pine Gospel Chapel.
Children from North Pine attend the Upper Pine Elementary and Junior Secondary School in Rose Prairie. That school opened in 1973, with large additions in 1976 and 1992. Secondary students travel to North Peace Secondary for high school classes.
