Sunset Prairie
Sunset Prairie is located approximately 55 km (34 miles) west of Dawson Creek and north of Highway No. 97S. This area is characteristic of undulating hills, with the Kiskatinaw River to the east of the community.
Sunset Prairie was settled in the 1920’s by a number of World War I soldiers. Some of these soldiers included John Barringham, Fred Gault, Elliot Lloyd, and Jimmy Riddle. These men and their families constructed a community hall and a church in the 1920’s and they had a post office located at the Walsh residents that opened in September 1924. Sunset Prairie consists of mainly forage and cattle operations.
